Mission & Vision

One of the main conditions for the development of the country is to take the right plan. Proper planning is necessary for proper planning. The statistics will be as accurate as planning for policy makers and decision making will be as easy as possible. Realizing the importance of statistics in Bangladesh, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman unified and coordinated the establishment of several separate institutions in 1974 and established BBS in 1974. Subsequently, in 1975, the Statistical Division was established under the Ministry of Planning in order to strengthen the statistical system.
The responsibility of the Bureau of Statistics is to provide reliable and recent information for the development and planning of the country. Besides, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics has been regularly monitoring the collection, compilation and publication of various information for planners, government and non-governmental organizations, various international organizations and public utility planning national and local planning.
